Our Cities Research Center, underpinned by 10 years of pioneering city research, brings together our firm-wide resources and expertise on cities around the world to help you identify new opportunities and to navigate through the New World of Cities.

We’ve been investigating property markets in cities across continents for more than 40 years. Ten years ago, in response to the radical and growing impact of urbanization and globalization on the world’s commercial geography, we established our world winning cities program, to focus particularly on identifying the next generation of rising urban stars.

A decade later, many cities that were then on the watch list are now thriving and competing with exisiting world cities. Some have already been through a property cycle. While a whole range of mature cities have responded to this heightening competition with innovative reinventions and large scale transformations, many of which Jones Lang LaSalle are proud to have been involved with.

In all cases, the opportunities and challenges are multiplying for those with real estate interests in cities, as more and different economic, environmental, and social drivers combine to impact their future prospects.

The crucial questions of when and where to invest, to develop, to locate are the same, but the trends and events impacting the answers are increasingly different. We believe that real estate is a driver of city success and not just a consequence of it, so we are also certain that these evolving measures and the analysis of them, is becoming more vital to the decisions of the property market itself.
